Engage with Peacebuilding Efforts

Our Purpose

At the Rotary Action Group for Peace-Great Lakes Chapter, our purpose is rooted in Rotary International’s mission of advancing goodwill, understanding, and peace.

We aim to be at the forefront of building a sustainable peaceful world by providing a platform for individuals and communities to become intentional in peacebuilding—within themselves, their societies, and across the globe.

To achieve this, we focus on three core strategies:

Educate · Engage · Empower

Together, we cultivate the skills, relationships, and commitment needed to create a more peaceful world.

Educate

Education is the foundation of lasting peace. By fostering a culture of tolerance, understanding, and cooperation, peace education empowers individuals to create meaningful change in their communities and beyond.

Peacebuilding happens at three interconnected levels—individual, community, and global. Strengthening knowledge and expertise at each level lays the groundwork for sustainable peace. Beyond foundational learning, peace education emphasizes Positive Peace—the social structures, policies, and relationships that actively promote harmony and prevent conflict.

Explore our Foundations of Peacebuilding section below to begin your journey, whether you’re new to peacebuilding or to Rotary. Our publicly available resources provide a strong starting point for understanding key concepts and strategies.

Engage

Engagement is the driving force behind the Rotary Action Group for Peace-Great Lakes Chapter, turning vision into meaningful, sustainable change. By actively participating in our initiatives, individuals can bring diverse expertise to develop innovative peacebuilding projects with lasting global impact.

By participating in RAGFP-GLC activities, individuals can coordinate efforts on a larger scale, ensuring that peace projects are both locally relevant and globally significant.

Empower

Empowerment thrives when individuals are engaged and educated. It enables people to harness their abilities to create meaningful change. The Rotary Action Group for Peace-Great Lakes Chapter fosters empowerment by equipping individuals with knowledge and opportunities to take action within Rotary, RAGFP-GLC, and their communities.

True empowerment means having the influence and resources to build positive peace. By applying the 8 Pillars of Positive Peace, individuals can drive impactful initiatives locally and globally. Lasting world peace will be achieved when people everywhere are empowered to call on their leaders to prioritize positive peace principles.

Leadership Team

Dedication. Expertise. Passion.

Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.
